Red Jumpsuit Apparatus at the Landing

  • X102.9 and the Landing presented alternative music bands "His Name was Iron" and "Hello Danger". Then, center stage came, "The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus" band. The band formed in 2001 at Middleburg High School. Since then, they have produced albums such as "Don't You Fake It", Lonely Road and their newest album "Hell or High Water" which will be released on August 24th. The full length album will be out in early 2011.

Tour De Pain 2010 Beach Run

  • Friday night was the kick off for "The Tour De Pain", the first of a series of three runs. First, 4 miles on the beach, then Saturday morning is 5km at 1st place sports and finally 1 mile at the landing Saturday night. These galleries consist of athletes running near the half way point on Friday night's beach run.

Rosco Caine at Cliff's

  • The Roscoe Caine Band rocked a packed house at Cliff's Bar located at 3033 Monument Rd., the intersection of Cobblestone Parkway and Monument road. Michael Anderberg, a Jacksonville Guitar builder, bought in a few of his custom Guitars for the band to play. Each Anderberg Guitar is made by hand and is built for beauty and performance. Cliff's was packed, the Band was hot and there was a host of Jacksonville's finest Musicians on hand that joined Rosco Caine on-stage. Run for Emilee

  • The Smoking Beaver hosted a run in honor of six-year-old Emilee Petteway, who fell victim to Leukemia. Sidnee Feagle, Emilee’s best friend has a quest to raise one million dollars for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help fight the disease that took her friend. This past Saturday marked the first annual Poker Run for Emilee which was hosted at the Smoking Beaver, 5683 Arlington Road. There were over 60 participating riders, raffle drawings, auctions, a dunking booth and hair donations from Sydney, Jen Wewer, Sydney's dad Billy, Howard Barry III and many others -- all benefiting Wigs 4 Kids. Portrait Workshop

  • The Portrait Society of America in conjunction with UNF sponsored a two-day event held in UNF's Fine Art Center on November 12th & 13th 2009 that featured a demonstration by Jacksonville's world renowned portraitist Ann Manry Kenyon. The event was attended by more than eighty artist that traveled from throughout the Southeast. On the second day Ms. Kenyon along with Tallahassee painter-sculptor Edward Jonas and UNF professor of art Kyle Keith conducted a workshop.   • The first annual Kids Win Fishing Tournament was held September 19 2009 at Browns Creek Fish Camp on Heckscher Drive and was open to ages 4 through 16. Winners in the two age groups 4 through 10 and 11 through 16 received trophies, cash and prizes. It was a day of fun for everyone and a huge success with over 100 families entering the contest.
